Steve has a considerable track record in conceiving, executing and running breakthrough concepts in the financial services industry. He has been a leading light in the creation of a number of the most innovative, customer-centric and successful companies in the sector in the UK, including First Direct and Egg. Steve’s notable achievements include:

Devised an innovative equity release loan product for a leading global insurance company Led the re-engineering of critical processes and cultural change at Barclays Private Clients International, resulting in the achievement of industry-leading service standards Conceived, built and implemented the Egg card (the first online credit card), overseeing the acquisition of 1.5m customers in the first 18 months; at the time the Egg card was, and still is, the fastest growing credit card in the history of the UK market Conceived, built and implemented the Boots Advantage Credit Card, the first combined loyalty and credit card in the UK Led the design and continued improvement of First Direct’s customer service proposition ‘the world’s most recommended bank’, acknowledged as the benchmark for customer service in the direct market Successfully developed CRM and balanced scorecards for First Direct Led the project to provide the Leeds Permanent Building Society with a credit card (the first affinity credit card in the UK)

Outside work Steve is an accomplished artist, he also keeps fit working out in the gym several times a week and playing the occasional game of five-a-side football. Steve is an avid fan of Leeds United and also a keen supporter of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
