NEWS RELEASE – 8th APRIL 2009
International Executive Search Firm Introduces a Non Executive Director Practice
Global Executive Search firm Greenings International has this week announced the launch of their cross border Non Executive Director (NED) Practice. This has been introduced as a result of requests from existing clients, who see this service as key for multi-national businesses in the Cards & Payments industry, and will operate under the leadership of Chairman Roger Alexander. The announcement has been made in a global climate that has forced intense scrutiny of Corporate Governance embracing the question of accountability as well as the ongoing need to manage risk effectively.
The role of the NED has often been misunderstood and, through positive trading climates, even overlooked. It is when corporate strategies fail and governance lapses that the contribution of the role falls under scrutiny. It is essential that the board demonstrate that it possesses the appropriately qualified individuals to provide oversight and challenge to the Executive team.
Whilst corporate governance provides the foundation for successful and responsible business practice, it is the quality and talent of the board that determines that success. The average boardroom accommodates approximately 50% of non executives equating to half of the experience, talent and skill responsible for driving the success of the business. Investing in the appointment of NEDs provides the very foundation of responsible governance.
This initiative is a logical progression for Greenings International who have developed as a niche player in the international Cards & Payments business. As technology changes the way we do business and companies become more global it is imperative that those same companies continue to invest in experienced professionals as they expand outside their domestic markets. For Greenings International, the placement of every NED is based upon a thorough assessment of the specific needs and challenges of individual clients. A broad spectrum of experience and vast networks facilitate a far reaching, transparent and rigorous search model to support this assessment.
The board is collectively responsible for overseeing and directing the affairs of the company, providing entrepreneurial leadership whilst ensuring a prudent level of risk assessment and boundaries. A successful board will accommodate a diverse skill base, with competencies and perspectives that complement its membership, ensuring unbiased consideration and overall integrity. Successful NED appointments factor an eclectic mix of requirements, such as the size and age of the business, customer and employee profiles, global market participation, future strategies and the existing composition of the board.
Greenings specializes in seamless cross border appointments, with primary focus on the retail financial services sector, enabling the delivery of a greater diversity of NED talent in terms of background, experience, ethnicity and nationality. The Founder of Greenings International, Andrew Greening, commented “Increased activity in global markets and growing demand for corporate accountability and transparent governance has generated the need for a specialist search function. With the recent growth of our team both in Europe and across the globe, we are delighted to launch the NED Practice which is a natural extension of our existing business.”
